7 Ways to Reinforce Healthy Habits in the Workforce

A healthy workforce is a productive workforce. Employees who eat well, stay active, manage stress, get enough sleep, are not only less likely to miss work, but are also more engaged at work and perform at a higher level. As an employer, you have the power to shape a culture of health, making wellness a priority in daily operations.

The Rolling Strong workplace wellness program isn’t just a perk-it’s a powerful tool that helps employees improve their sleep, nutrition, hydration, and movement. The app makes it easy to track progress, while competitions and Annual Award Brackets create motivation. Installing a HIGI machine takes it even further by keeping employees aware of their blood pressure and overall health.

Here are 7 ways to reinforce healthy habits in the workplace:

1. Make wellness a habit in your newsletters. Remind employees about Rolling Strong app features, upcoming competitions, and award brackets. Encourage participants to work with their Rolling Strong coach to drive engagement and health outcomes.

2. Use Rolling Strong content to educate and inform. Print out Rolling Strong health blogs, like those on blood pressure management, and place them near the HIGI machine. Include links to strength training videos, or meditation podcasts in employee emails. Talk to your Rolling Strong contact for suggestions on content to highlight.

3. Talk about health in safety meetings. Encourage new employees to start using Rolling Strong from day one. The earlier they engage, the more likely they are to adopt and stick with the program. Remind current employees about use of the HIGI machine, and the importance of annual health exams.

4. Swap processed snacks for whole foods like apples, oranges, and veggies. If serving pizza, add a side of greens. Replace sugary drinks like soda, Gatorade, and lemonade with water-every small change matters.

5. Take a close look vending machines. If the slots are filled with ultra-processed foods, consider other options to encourage better choices. This sends a powerful message about what to eat.

6. Encourage movement throughout the day. Promote at least 150 minutes of cardiovascular exercise each week. (just five walks for 30 minutes). Short bouts of exercise like walking or stretching, can have a big impact. Encourage a walking meeting, standing desk space, or even invite a chair yoga instructor into the employee and driver lounge areas.

7. Host regular wellness events to bring excitement to the Rolling Strong program and spark interest in health. Regular wellness challenges can be run EVERY month in the Rolling Strong mobile app, workshops, nutrition demos, or fitness sessions can reinforce the importance of health while making it fun and social.

Creating a culture of health doesn’t happen overnight, but small, consistent effort make a difference. By including the strategies above alongside the Rolling Strong Wellness Program, you can help your company build lasting healthy habits-leading to a happier, healthier, and more productive workforce.
